SocialServices
In my experience the social services and other organs of authority are
very slow to intervene in personal cases and cases involving individual
freedoms. And by this I mean police, social services, the local
council, the medical profession, ambulance personnel. They only
intervene if something very wrong or very bad or a great accident has
happened. And then it is usually for the best. Their resources are very
limited (they are your resources!) so you shouldn't normally spurn
their help or begrudge it or create disturbance because of it. Their
help is reducing what they can offer to others. In some cases I have
often wished they would intervene more vigorously (e.
g. allotment issues for example).
