Welcome to a brand of
Mathematical
Services.
As I do further work on issues concerned with the naming of places it becomes clear to me that
my interests - they are shared by other people - some of them women. These are generally in academic institutions
(Universities) where they are happily (we hope) engaged in following their niche (or lone furrow
as one academic described my interest once). But I see a further difference - one of the fake inequality.
Wherease many women are shy to get involved in mathematical or engineering disciplines (or even software
engineering) this is not true of men. Men love to build their machines, do calculations, encourage other men to use
them, to take them home, and to benefit from their pouring over computer code (sometimes admittedly for a price).
But which women want to extend their literary activities or interests so that the grubby engineer (quote from
one of my lecturers) can appreciate them. Even if its just designing a good library to build.
To make it so that their art and culture is not just an escape for men. To release them from drinking heavily at least
or having been made redundant from their back breaking work. Or is it that the
concubine role is the interest they more wish to share as being more useful. Well I wont complain about that one
I suppose ( :) ), I'll just observe it. It seems the release from hard word for some is rubbish and there's no attempt to
change it.
